TOKYO, June 17 (Kyodo) — NTT Communications Corp. said Tuesday it has tied up with Akamai Technologies Inc. of the United States to provide a service for companies to deliver high-capacity Internet content at a high speed.

The new service will be launched in late June, company officials said.

With the new service, companies will be able to deliver high-capacity data, such as moving images, via the Internet without introducing any additional communication equipment, which in turn allows them to save costs, the officials said.

Akamai provides products and services that enable companies and government agencies to extend and control e-business infrastructure.

NTT Communications is a long-distance and international services arm of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp.
