SOHOware Announces First Anniversary for BroadScan(TM) UTM Security Appliances
Posted on: Friday, 3 February 2006, 21:00 CST
SOHOware, an integrated wireless systems pioneer, celebrates the first anniversary of its BroadScan(TM) UTM Security Appliance family, which is disrupting the industry with a subscription-free business model. BroadScan(TM) is a Spam-Virus Firewall that combines industry leading scanning engines with intrusion prevention, RADIUS authentication, and VPN to offer small and medium businesses a comprehensive security solution with no recurring costs.
BroadScan now includes four models to meet the capacity of networks from 10 to 1000 users. Recently added is the SCL3000, with higher storage capacity, Gigabit networking, and load balancing of up to 4 WAN links, further enabling BroadScan(TM) to integrate all gateway functions into one affordable appliance for SMB. All BroadScan(TM) models utilize open source scanning engines that are constantly refreshed and updated by security industry experts, offering a stability and resiliency not available from a single source proprietary corporate scanning database. BroadScan(TM) open source engines include:
-- ClamAV for anti-virus -- SNORT for intrusion detection and anti-Spyware -- SpamAssassin for anti-spam
Says Dr. CT Wu, President and CEO of SOHOware, "BroadScan(TM) remains the most cost effective solution for securing an SMB network, and our VAR partners are using this high ROI value to upgrade their customers' legacy firewalls with an all-in-one security solution."
SOHOware continually updates BroadScan(TM) features, and has now integrated SSL VPN support to simplify the administration of remote network access to corporate resources. For the SMB market, SSL support is highly valued for enabling secure communications with mobile users, clients and partners. Dr. Wu states further, "It is integration of features like subscription-free signature updates, WAN load balancing, SSL support and others that make BroadScan(TM) such an attractive selling solution for our VAR partners by reducing CapEx investment and ongoing OpEx expenses."
BroadScan(TM) is available in four models, including SCN200 for 25 users, SCN1000 for 200 users, SCL2000 for 500 users, and the new SCL3000 for 1000 users. Email scanning is optimized for accuracy with Heuristic analysis and Bayesian self-training functions for inbound and outbound traffic. The user interface includes setup wizards and intuitive graphic charting of network performance and event statistics that may be customized by time, history and event type.
