Feb. 4--Cable TV customers in Pueblo with the right hardware will get an even more detailed view of the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Dan Buchanan, manager of the Pueblo Comcast office, said Friday that the company signed an agreement with ABC affiliate KRDO to carry its high-definition signal.
Comcast already carries HD feeds from KXRM, the local Fox affiliate, and KKTV, the CBS station. It's waiting for agreements with NBC affiliate KOAA and KTSC, the PBS station.
High definition programming is available to anyone who leases Comcast's HD/digital video recorders, which run $9.99.
Customers also may have a TV monitor that's set up for HD signals, although they don't have to have HD tuners since the Comcast unit does that for them.
How many viewers this year's Super Bowl will draw remains as uncertain as the game's outcome.
Seattle and Pittsburgh are two teams from relatively small markets, with one (Seattle) having little or no national following, and neither team featuring a marquee player of Peyton Manning's caliber.
Given the matchup, there's speculation this could be the first Super Bowl to record less than a 40 rating since San Francisco's 55-10 victory over Denver in 1989. That game did a 39 rating, the only time it fell below 40 since 1971.
David Blum of Eisner Communications in Baltimore said his company projects the ratings will be in the upper 30s. "It's going to be toward the low end ratings-wise," said Blum.
