Tatara and Airpath Offer Carriers Turnkey Wireless Solutions; Companies Partner to Make Available Network Footprint With Wireless Services
Posted on: Monday, 6 February 2006, 09:00 CST
Tatara Systems, the market leader in mobile services convergence, and Airpath Wireless, the leader in enabling management and roaming for wireless broadband networks, today announced a partnership and joint marketing agreement. By leveraging Airpath's clearinghouse, carrier-class roaming, and operational support systems capabilities with Tatara's Mobile Services Convergence Platform, service providers can quickly acquire footprint to deploy and manage wireless broadband services. The combined solution has been jointly certified enabling service providers to accelerate their time to revenue for new mobile services across a variety of devices and networks.
"Partnering with Tatara greatly enhances the value we can extend to carriers by offering a complete solution," said George McHorney, president of Airpath. "Simplifying deployments and enabling service providers to tap into a flexible roaming ecosystem are the first step towards offering converged mobile services."
"Fragmentation across Wi-Fi operators has made it complicated and expensive for content and service providers to cost effectively enter the business," said analyst Deb Mielke of Treillage Network Strategies. "Making end-to-end turnkey solutions available is important for content providers and smaller carriers due to their more limited resources and infrastructure constraints."
Airpath's InterRoam offers service providers an online tool to acquire and make roaming footprint available to their end users and to manage and deploy wireless services around the globe. InterRoam delivers an online, e-commerce exchange for roaming contract management and a clearing and settlement platform for inter-provider authentication, clearing and settlement services.
By integrating with Tatara's Converged Mobile Services Platform, service providers are able to obtain a turnkey solution including everything from service provider specific branding and 3G/Wi-Fi connection management on client devices to an array of new offerings such as converged messaging, VoIP and intelligent content delivery.
"As a neutral roaming broker, Airpath delivers a unique set of capabilities to providers looking to capitalize upon the large demand for mobile wireless offerings," said Steve Nicolle, CEO and President of Tatara. "We have already successfully extended this value to the market as evidenced with a recent commercial deployment by a service provider in Europe. Streamlining the service commercialization process enables providers to apply more focus to offering value added services beyond basic wireless connectivity."
