Network Chemistry Selected As a Finalist for Network World's 2006 "Best of the Tests"

Posted on: Monday, 6 February 2006, 12:00 CST

Network Chemistry, the wireless security experts, today announced that it has been selected as a finalist for Network World's 2006 "Best of the Tests." Network Chemistry earned this recognition based on the high performance rating its free Bluetooth vulnerability assessment tool, BlueScanner (www.bluescanner.org), received in a November 2005 Clear Choice Test. With an overall rating of 4 out of 5, Network Chemistry's BlueScanner received high marks in the following areas: features, ease of use, diagnostic depth, and performance.

"Being selected for the honor of finalist is further validation that we are delivering the most secure and easy-to-use wireless threat protection solutions in the market," said Rob Markovich, CEO of Network Chemistry. "Network Chemistry will continue to give back to the technical community by providing free tools such as BlueScanner and by spearheading industry initiatives such as the Wireless Vulnerabilities and Exploits (www.wirelessve.org) database."

Network Chemistry developed the BlueScanner tool to deal with the increasing number of Bluetooth vulnerabilities and attacks threatening the security of enterprises and end users. The tool protects against these threats by pro-actively identifying Bluetooth devices, their type (phone, computer, keyboard, and more), and the services they advertise. This information allows IT staff to quickly and easily assess the level of Bluetooth usage and mitigate security risks. Since BlueScanner's release in October 2005, the tool has been downloaded over 20,000 times.

In addition to the free tools that the company makes available, Network Chemistry provides the industry's most complete enterprise-wide wireless threat protection with its patent-pending technology and RFprotect(TM) integrated suite of solutions. RFprotect Distributed is an automated wireless intrusion detection and prevention system for protecting against wireless threats in and around enterprise facilities. RFprotect Endpoint protects mobile devices on the road by actively enforcing policy to thwart threats and prohibit risky wireless configurations. Finally, RFprotect Mobile is a portable laptop-based analyzer for automating site surveys, security assessments, and incident response.

Finalists were chosen based on best performances in Network World's hands-on testing program.

The complete list of finalists and winners will be published in Network World's sixth annual Signature Series Best Products Issue, published February 27th, in print and online at www.networkworld.com . The issue will highlight the best new products, services and practices in networking and the best new ideas on buying, building and managing networks.
