Road Resurface at $3.3 Million -- More Than 50 Projects Approved

DeSoto County will spend $3.3 million resurfacing roads and streets this year, including assisting Southaven with Rasco Road improvements.

The Board of Supervisors on Monday OK'd more than 50 projects estimated to cost $3,317,5590.

Last year, about $2.9 million was spent on resurfacing, road manager Russell Dorris said.

The projects go to Daniel Murphy, consulting county engineer, to be advertised for bids.

Officials shifted money from a planned upgrade of Pleasant Hill Road in Olive Branch to the Rasco Road project in Southaven.

Supervisor Gene Thach said Olive Branch wasn't ready to proceed with its project, and Southaven could use help on the heavily traveled road that serves Southaven High School.

Dorris said the roads would be resurfaced according to need, traffic count and conditions.

Baldwin Road, Miss. 304 to dead end.

Bass Landing Road from Old U.S. 61.

Bolin Road, Getwell to Malone.

Boyd Road, Sullivan to dead end.

Broady Road, Pleasant Hill to dead end.

Burton Road, Center Hill to dead end.

Byhalia Road, Lee to Miss. 305.

Byhalia Road, one half mile on both sides of Camp Creek Canal.

Center Hill Road, Miss. 302 to Old U.S. 78.

Commodore Road, Jaybird to dead end.

Cub Lake Road, Williams to Miss. 301.

Cub Lake Road, Miss. 301 east to dead end.

Deerwood Place, McIngvale to dead end.

Delta View Road, Old Nail Road to Miss. 161.

Delta View Road, Church Road to U.S. 61.

Downey Lane, Flicker Ridge to Red Crest.

Dunn Lane, Craft Road to Miss. 305.

Flicker Ridge, Baldwin to Downey Lane.

Fox Gate Drive, Miss. 305 to dead end.
