WorldCom Inc. said Wednesday it will sell computer-networking services through Intel Corp.'s 40,000 dealers to reach more small businesses, governments and universities.
The two companies will sell phone and data services such as wireless Internet access, including some joint products and services, said Ashburn, Va.-based WorldCom, the nation's second- largest long-distance company.
WorldCom, which plans to change its name to MCI when it emerges from bankruptcy early next year, did not disclose financial terms.
WorldCom is seeking access to more customers to make up for a drop in revenue across the industry. Sales at the company, second in the long-distance market to AT&T Corp., fell 2.9 percent to $1.95 billion in September from $2.01 billion in August.
Dealers for Santa Clare, Calif.-based Intel, the world's largest computer-chip maker, sell personal computers, consulting services and network products.
