February 8, 2006

By Kyodo News International, Tokyo

Feb. 8–NEW YORK — Apple Computer Inc. said Tuesday it will cut the price of its low-end digital music player iPod Shuffle and add a smaller-capacity version of its mid-priced iPod Nano.

It is an unusual move for Apple to cut retail prices of its products.

Apple, based in Cupertino, California, said in a press release the 512-megabyte Shuffle will be marked down to $69 from $99, and the 1-gigabyte model to $99 from $129.

The new 1-gigabyte Nano will sell for $149, the company said.
