Columbus Data Signs Contract Renewal With Transaction Network Services; Wireless ATMLink Solution is Deployed in 1,000+ ATM Units Nationwide

Transaction Network Services, Inc. (NYSE:TNS), a leading provider of business-critical network and data communications services for transaction-oriented applications, today announced that Columbus Data Services (CDS) has signed a three-year contract renewal with TNS' ATMLink solution to support its ATM communications services. In fact, CDS has now installed over 1,000 wireless ATMLink units nationwide in 2005, a significant landmark for the new Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology.
CDS provides ATM deployers with state-of-the-art technology to enable them to compete aggressively in the marketplace. The addition of TNS' ATMLink wireless technology to CDS' current systems allows for rapid installation and flexible placement of the ATMs.
"We have been thoroughly impressed with the results of the new wireless ATMLink service. It is comparably priced to standard dial service, but without the significant expense and delay associated with it," said Ron Schuldt, president of CDS. "CDS will be announcing an incentive program for ISOs at the upcoming ATMIA conference to drive increased usage of this product."
Wireless ATMs benefit both the merchant and the ATM owner. With TNS' ATMLink solution, there is no delay in putting the ATM to work, since there is no need to wait for a phone line to be installed. For the merchant, it provides the flexibility of moving the ATM within the store for optimum placement. From a cost perspective, the price point of the wireless and wireline solutions are comparable, yet wireless solutions cost less to maintain and install, thereby providing the merchant with significant savings.
"TNS is excited that Columbus Data Services has embraced the ATMLink wireless solution," said Kent Phillips, TNS' vice president of Sales, Self-Service Solutions. "This new technology will undoubtedly have a huge impact in the marketplace, as it benefits both the merchant and the ATM owner or operator."
