Sprint Corp. has won a one-year contract to provide the Department of Defense with tactical communications systems support in Southwest Asia, the company announced Monday.
Under the contract, Sprint of Overland Park, Kan., will provide day-to-day management of tactical communications systems for Air Force bases in Southwest Asia.
The award is the fourth contract the Defense Department has awarded Sprint in the last seven months, the company said. The value of the four awards exceeds $14 million.
Sprint helped replace and commercialize voice and data communications following the military conflict in Bosnia, according to the company. That experience helped it win the four Defense Department contracts, said Tony DAgata, vice president and general manager for Sprints Government Systems Division, Herndon, Va.
Sprint, a provider of global integrated communications, has 68,200 employees and annual sales of $27 billion. The company was ranked No. 49 in the Washington Technology Top 100 list.
