Comverse Enhances End To End Content Solutions With On-Device Portal
Posted on: Monday, 13 February 2006, 03:00 CST
Comverse, a unit of Comverse Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: CMVT), the world's leading provider of software and systems enabling network-based multimedia enhanced communication services, today announced the availability of On-Device Portal, a mobile solution that simplifies user accessibility to data services and delivers an enhanced user experience. Comverse On-Device Portal is the latest addition to Comverse's complete portfolio of content solutions that includes a content management and delivery platform, i-mode(R) platform, Mobile Data Gateway, a full set of data delivery bearers, and a broad set of business and technical tools for service and usage optimization. By encouraging increased content purchases via a user-friendly "access, preview, buy" process, On-Device Portal is designed to enable operators to boost revenues, ARPU and brand support. This solution is provided in conjunction with SurfKitchen, a leader in mobile usability and data solutions.
The mobile data service environment can cause myriad problems for both users and operators. On the user side, a lengthy, complex and non-intuitive experience can make content discovery, access and usage extremely challenging. With many "click-and-wait" steps, the current inconsistent experience can require users to pay for content before having the chance to preview it. On the operator side, there is often poor brand visibility while accessing content from third parties. Given these shortcomings, operators can suffer from low data revenues and poor customer satisfaction when it comes to content.
Turning the acquisition of content into an appealing process, On-Device Portal helps operators overcome many of the obstacles that until now, have limited data service popularity. On-Device Portal moves part of the data acquisition experience offline, leading to simpler and faster navigation, increased personalization, and an overall improved purchasing experience for users. Supporting multiple devices and platforms, the solution also enables operators to update the device's user interface, relevant content and content promotions, at anytime. As such, operators can boost brand awareness and leverage customer segmentation via targeted marketing activities.
"Comverse believes that poor user experience has been an inhibitor to the acceptance of mobile content offerings," said Benny Einhorn, Chief Marketing Officer at Comverse. "Given our commitment to mobile content, we are making every effort to improve that experience. Leveraging our vast experience in providing value-added services and the burgeoning capabilities of 3G, Comverse's On-Device Portal makes content far more accessible and enticing to users, all of which is designed to increase operator revenues and ARPU."
On-Device Portal is comprised of three applications:
-- On-Device Fun enables users to experience download content - such as ringtones, games and videos - in an offline mode. With On-Device Fun, users can quickly access and download content with a few clicks, as well as preview data services prior to purchase. Operators can customize their content offering via dynamic updating, design a more attractive presentation by changing its look and feel, and initiate promotions, teasers and marketing campaigns.
-- On-Device Info, which enables users to browse content offline, provides many of the same benefits as On-Device Fun. Users can browse quickly through headlines and banners, as well as preview content and services before purchase, while operators can easily initiate varied marketing activities.
-- On-Device Storefront incorporates On-Device Fun and On-Device Info through a customized launch pad that aggregates the operator's services and promotions. The On-Device Storefront provides users with links in order to easily navigate the entire content offering. Dynamically updated and defined by the operator, the application enables users to quickly access content with a few clicks and preview data services prior to purchase.
These services, along with other services from the Comverse Total Communication(TM) Portfolio, are being demonstrated at 3GSM World Congress, February 13-16 in Barcelona, Spain at the Comverse stand (Hall 8, stand B12/13).
