America Online, Inc.: Collaboration Debuts Online and In Print February 14th with 'The 50 Most Awesomely Dead Rock Stars'; Blender/AOL Radio Station In The Works
Talk about your modern day supergroups. Premier online music destination AOL Music and the acclaimed, fast-growing music magazine Blender are teaming up to provide both exclusive and original content for millions of music fans visiting AOL Music (http://www.aolmusic.com) and reading Blender magazine each month. Online visitors will see Blender reviews, photos and features come to life, and a new co-branded radio station will give listeners the chance to tune in to hear the latest Blender editor favorites. Blender readers will also gain access to monthly charts from AOL Music.
The collaboration kicks off on Tuesday, February 14th, when Blender's March issue hits newsstands with its irreverent "50 Most Awesomely Dead Rock Stars" feature, a "corpse-tastic" countdown of the 50 most powerful deceased musicians. A multi-media version of the article will debut the same day on AOL (R) Music, including exclusive AOL (R) videos, polls, a special "Dead or Not Dead" game, the Blender/AOL Dead Rock Stars station on the AOL Radio Network and more.
Other Blender-produced content for AOL Music will include a monthly photo-captioning contest, CD reviews, and a premium selection of feature stories from the pages of Blender, all with expanded and exclusive multimedia content. Additionally, AOL Music will supply Blender magazine with a monthly countdown chart of their site's most downloaded, streamed and searched songs.
In the near future, AOL Music will create a co-branded Blender/AOL Radio station, which will air on the AOL (R) Radio Network and will also be promoted on Blender's web site (http://www.blender.com).
"Blender is smart, funny and remarkably entertaining," said Erik Flannigan, Vice President and General Manager of AOL Music, Movies and Television for America Online. "Now music fans and savvy Blender readers can go a step further and get instant gratification - listening to songs, watching videos, searching for tickets and more for any of the artists and music they read about in special interactive features."
"As one of the first popular music magazine to embrace the digital world, we're excited to be working with the top company in the space," says Blender editor-in-chief Craig Marks. "We've got every musical genre covered for the online masses, with the news, photos, interviews and silly questions that have made us the must-read for music lovers everywhere."
