Neogent Implements Enterprise Content Management Application for Microchip Technology; System Showcases Technical Documentation on More Than 30,000 Products

Posted on: Monday, 13 February 2006, 09:00 CST

Neogent, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise content and security services, today announced that it has completed the implementation of an Enterprise Content Management solution for Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, to manage the lifecycle of all Internet content and digital assets throughout the organization. The new solution, which leverages content management technology in concert with Microchip's ERP system, helps Microchip to support a greater number of customer designs and sell more products through the Web, furthering the Company's efforts to lead the semiconductor industry in online sales and technical support.

One example is microchipDIRECT -- a comprehensive online resource that provides Microchip's customers worldwide with expanded options previously only available through Microchip sales offices, including competitive pricing from local sales teams, credit-line or credit-card payment, and e-mail notification of orders, deliveries, and quote status.

With the thousands of products and catalog SKUs, Microchip required an advanced enterprise content strategy that would support and adapt to the continual change in the semiconductor industry. Microchip turned to Neogent's team because of the firm's specialized experience designing and implementing Web-based content management solutions that integrate with sophisticated technology infrastructures, such as ERP systems.

"Providing comprehensive technical content online is essential to the growth of our business. Therefore, having a highly advanced content management strategy that effectively showcases our solutions is essential to maintaining our leadership in the market," said Doug Guilbeau, director of Sales and Internet Applications at Microchip. "Neogent's team has been important to our strategic planning and technology implementation processes, which ensures that our customers receive the latest technical information, new product details, promotional news and product ordering information, ultimately making our Web site a highly efficient sales tool."

Since its inception, Microchip has focused its resources on delivering innovative semiconductor products to the global embedded-control marketplace. The company focuses their technology, engineering, manufacturing and marketing resources on synergistic product lines: PIC(R) microcontrollers; an extensive portfolio of analog and interface products; high-endurance Serial EEPROMs; KEELOQ(R) security devices; and dsPIC(R) digital signal controllers -- all aimed at delivering comprehensive, high-value embedded control solutions to a growing base of customers that rely on the Web to order products.

"Microchip strives at all times to provide its customers the best service possible. This has helped make it one of the biggest success stories in the embedded-control market," said Bruce Douglas, president and co-founder of Neogent, Inc. "We're honored to collaborate with the Microchip team to design and implement its state-of-the-art online sales system, and believe it will help the company take its sales and service strategies to new levels for the benefit of both the Company and its customers."
