Network Chemistry and Xirrus Partner to Deliver Secure, High Performance Enterprise Wi-Fi Solution

Posted on: Monday, 13 February 2006, 09:00 CST

Network Chemistry Inc., the wireless security experts, today announced that it will license sensor and management software components of its award-winning RFprotect(TM) Distributed solution to Xirrus, Inc., which will integrate them into its standard Wireless LAN Array product. The WLAN Array has a revolutionary architecture combining a WLAN switch with up to 16 Integrated Access Points (IAPs), including a dedicated RF sensor, in a single device. This integrated approach provides enterprise customers with a high-performance, scalable, and secure Wi-Fi network architecture.

The integration of Network Chemistry software allows the WLAN Array to provide full-time wireless intrusion detection and prevention (WIDP) capabilities while also delivering over 800Mbps of RF bandwidth to client devices. This gives enterprise customers best-of-class bandwidth, range, and security in a single device. Network Chemistry's software will use one of the IAPs in the WLAN Array to detect rogue devices and over 200 known security threats.

"This partnership continues to expand the robust security offering Xirrus products provide," said Dirk Gates, CEO of Xirrus. "With industry-best capacity, coverage, security and return-on-investment, the WLAN Array featuring Network Chemistry technology provides our customers with a powerful and compelling value proposition for organizations and resellers alike."

"Security is enabling enterprises to confidently complete full-blown WLAN deployments," said Rob Markovich, president and CEO of Network Chemistry. "As more and more complex business applications are extended to the WLAN, administrators are challenged to deliver more capacity while keeping the network and users secure. The Xirrus WLAN Array with built-in RFprotect functionality provides Gigabit-class capacity and automated wireless threat protection across the extended signal coverage area."

Xirrus Wireless LAN Arrays with Network Chemistry's sensor and management software will be available late in the first quarter of this year.

Enterprise and OEM customers of Xirrus now have access to a complete line of wireless threat protection solutions via this partnership. Network Chemistry's RFprotect Distributed is an automated wireless intrusion detection and prevention system for protecting against wireless threats in and around enterprise facilities. RFprotect Endpoint protects mobile devices on the road by actively enforcing policy to thwart threats and prohibit risky wireless configurations. Finally, RFprotect Mobile is a portable laptop-based analyzer for automating site surveys, security assessments, and incident response.
