AT&T Renews Contract for Prepaid Phone Cards with World's Largest Retailer
Posted on: Tuesday, 13 January 2004, 06:00 CST
MORRISTOWN, N.J., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T today announced that for the sixth consecutive year, it has been selected as the exclusive provider of advanced prepaid phone cards to SAM's Club and Wal-Mart Stores. The terms of this new agreement extend the AT&T and Wal-Mart contract for prepaid phone cards through January 31, 2005.
"We're delighted with this significant achievement, which confirms our commitment to Wal-Mart and other retail partners that AT&T will continue to provide innovative products that demonstrate our leadership in the prepaid phone card business," said Mark Evans, vice president of marketing and sales for AT&T Prepaid Services. "Wal-Mart customers can be among the first to experience AT&T's new enhanced prepaid phone cards with many unique and industry-leading features."
This year AT&T is offering several optional features on its prepaid phone cards that can be activated for an additional charge. Once a feature is activated, it will remain active for as long as there are enough minutes remaining on the card to cover the fees or monthly charge for the feature. Consumers have the option to de-activate any and all selected features at any time.
New innovative features include the following:
* Lost Card Protection -- A unique benefit that allows consumers to use
their AT&T PrePaid Phone Cards with confidence. With Lost Card
Protection, if a consumer's AT&T PrePaid Phone Card is lost or stolen,
the card's balance of minutes will be restored to the level it was on
the date and time the customer called to report the loss or theft. To
be eligible for this protection, consumers must register their cards by
calling 1 (800) 331-3800, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
* Pin-less Dialing -- Consumers who dial their AT&T PrePaid Phone Card
from the same telephone numbers will enjoy this feature. They can
register up to five telephone numbers from where they call most often.
When they use their AT&T PrePaid Phone Card to call from one of those
numbers, their PIN will be entered automatically.
* Speed-dial -- Another important feature that allows consumers to
register up to 10 frequently called domestic telephone numbers for
quick access. Once the numbers are programmed, consumers will have
quicker dialing capability for those specific telephone numbers.
* 3-Way Calling -- To establish 3-Way Calling, consumers simply dial the
same AT&T access number used to make a call with their AT&T PrePaid
Phone Card and follow the prompts to the 3-Way Calling option. If
3-Way Calling is selected, the system will provide a separate toll-free
number to use when placing three-way calls.
* Voice Mail Box -- Consumers decide who can leave messages by simply
establishing a private Voice Mail Box on the AT&T Network with
toll-free access. Callers may leave up to a combined total of 30
minutes of messages in a Voice Mail Box within a 30-day period.
Messages are stored for 10 days. Each time consumers use their AT&T
PrePaid Phone Card, they are alerted to new messages, which can be
checked at anytime from virtually any location.
* Autominutes(SM) -- This innovative feature removes the worry of ever
running out of minutes during a call. By registering a credit card in
advance, Autominutes will automatically replenish a consumer's
presubscribed minutes to prevent call interruption. The cost of those
minutes will appear on the consumer's next credit card statement.
(AT&T does not charge for use of this feature.)

Posted by Nancy Armour on 09/28/2007, 13:29 I would like to know, if after dialing, and taperson comes on to repeat the #, and you verify it, then the dial is made - and then the operator comes on and tells you how many minutes you have on your card, why are these mins used against your order? |
