LongBoard and Coasin Partner to Bring Fixed-Mobile Convergence Applications to Wireless, Wireline, and Broadband Providers in Chile

Posted on: Tuesday, 14 February 2006, 03:03 CST

LongBoard, Inc., the leading developer of SIP-based Persona Mobility Applications, and Coasin Chile, a leading systems integrator and telecommunications equipment distributor, today announced their partnership to bring Fixed-Mobile Convergence (FMC) to the Chilean market. The LongBoard OnePhone(TM) solution for IMS-compatible Fixed-Mobile Convergence (FMC)/Voice Call Continuity (VCC) enables seamless roaming between WiFi and cellular environments. The OnePhone enables FMC/VCC and Personal Mobility Applications (PMAs) for wireline, wireless, combined wireless/wireline, cable, and broadband service providers as well as mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs).

Under the terms of the partnership agreement Coasin will offer product distribution and engineering support necessary to develop the LongBoard OnePhone FMC/VCC solution and PMAs in Chile. Persona will train Coasin's engineers to support LongBoard's advanced, IMS-compatible applications in wireline, wireless, and broadband service provider networks. With over 35 years of experience, Coasin leads the Chilean market in providing advanced solutions to wireless, wireline, cable television, and broadband service provider customers. Chile has one of the highest penetration rates of wireless users of any Latin America with 55%, or about three times the number of wireline subscribers in that country.

"Coasin is committed to bringing IMS-compatible Fixed-Mobile Convergence solutions to Chile," said Raul Ciudad, chief executive officer of Coasin. "Chilean service providers are very technically adept and are looking for innovative offerings to improve market share in our sophisticated telecommunications market." He continued, "We see the opportunities IMS-compatible solutions offer across the spectrum of service providers we work with."

OnePhone service enables end-users to make and receive all of their calls though a single user interface on a variety of handsets. LongBoard provides OnePhone handset client software that works with LongBoard's SIP application software and server platform to provide FMC/VCC and personal mobility applications.

"LongBoard's IMS-compatible FMC solutions enable a broad range of service providers to take advantage of advanced communications applications today," said Hari Haran, Senior Vice President Sales and Business Development of LongBoard. "LongBoard provides the only IMS-compatible FMC solution on the market today that enables seamless roaming between 2.5/3G networks and WiFi. We are excited that our partnership with a quality organization like Coasin brings both the technical expertise and local presence necessary to deploy FMC/VCC solutions quickly in the Chilean market."
