Bridgestream to Deliver Integrated Identity and Roles Management Solution With Sun Microsystems
Posted on: Tuesday, 14 February 2006, 09:00 CST
At the RSA Conference 2006, Bridgestream, Inc., a leading provider of business roles automation solutions, today announced that it will work with Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: SUNW) to deliver an integrated identity and roles management solution.
Bridgestream's SmartRoles(TM) technology helps Sun customers automate roles management through an integration with Sun's market-leading Identity Manager product. The integration allows Sun's identity management software to provision and de-provision accounts within SmartRoles, query SmartRoles to determine roles held by users and query SmartRoles to resolve approvers within the identity management workflows. The combination of Sun Identity Manager and Bridgestream SmartRoles increases time-to-value of the identity management solution.
"Sun is committed to offering our customers identity management software that lets them make security a seamless part of their business in ways that help them unlock value and make money," said Andy Land, product line manager of Identity Management at Sun. "The combination of Sun's Identity Manager provisioning product and Bridgestream's technology will allow customers to accelerate the deployment of their identity-management solutions."
"Roles management defines the business relationships that exist within a department or division across the extended enterprise. For example, access rights to specific applications can be provisioned as employees work on particular projects and de-provisioned as soon as they complete the project," said Edward Zou, vice president of marketing for Bridgestream. "This integrated offering will enable organizations to automate and enforce employees' access to information, applications and systems based on their pre-defined business roles, duties, interdependencies and relationships."
"The separation of duties requirement in many regulations (SOX, GLB Act, HIPAA) is forcing organizations to define a meaningful and manageable role infrastructure," said Roberta J. Witty, vice president of research at Gartner, Inc. "Role-based provisioning -- aligning the business function to the technical infrastructure components for access management -- can help with identity management and regulatory compliance to ensure that a company's day-to-day use of business rules is documented, reviewed and enforced."
