Trust Digital and Aventail Launch Integrated Enterprise Mobile Security Solution

Posted on: Tuesday, 14 February 2006, 12:00 CST

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- RSA Tradeshow -- Trust Digital, the leading provider of enterprise mobile security software solutions, and Aventail, the leading SSL VPN product company, today introduced an integrated mobile security solution. The joint solution leverages Aventail's secure, remote access appliance and Trust Digital's policy-based security for mobile devices.

"Our customers have two urgent mobile security requirements -- one, they need a secure tunnel into the enterprise, and, two, they need secure endpoints from which to connect," said Michael Riemer, EVP Marketing and Business Development, Trust Digital. "With Aventail securing the access and Trust Digital securing the device, you can secure your mobile initiatives at a reduced cost while leveraging your existing infrastructure."

This first of its kind solution is carrier and network agnostic, covering CDMA-EVDO, GPRS-Edge, and WiFi networks. The solution will initially target enterprises deploying Windows mobile devices (Pocket PC 2003 2nd Edition and Mobile 5).

"Mobile devices are a huge security risk. They are easily lost or stolen and present an easy avenue of attack for hackers, and yet, enterprises can not afford to deny the 100 million global mobile workers access to corporate resources and lose the associated productivity and cost savings," said Charles Kolodgy, research director, Secure Content and Threat Management Products, at IDC. "Aventail and Trust Digital are taking positive steps to increase mobile device security by combining the access and security components. This will allow network managers to provide access while maintaining control and security of mobile devices."

The solution features policy-based end point security from Trust Digital and secure access using Aventail Mobile, an SSL VPN client for Windows smart phones and PDAs, and provides full support for:

-- Microsoft Exchange Active Sync (part of SP2 for Exchange 2003) -- Web Applications -- Thick client applications

"The explosion in mobile device usage and the ever-increasing mobility of today's workforce is driving enterprises to extend remote access to mobile devices, such as PDAs and Smartphones, which is why Aventail is at the forefront of the SSL VPN market with our Aventail Mobile solution," said Sarah Daniels, vice president of marketing and product management, Aventail. "Trust Digital's policy-based mobile security solution integrates perfectly with Aventail's mobile access technology, allowing us to deliver a complete, easy to use solution to our customers."
