PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Vyyo Inc. , a global supplier of broadband access equipment for cable and private wireless broadband network solutions, announced today that Fred Feisullin, senior sales engineer, will present a case study entitled "Benefiting from Wireless High-Speed Data SCADA Networks" at the TechAdvantage(R) Conference and Expo in Orlando this week.
During the conference's February 18th Technology Showcase, Feisullin will discuss how a Midwestern generation and transmission cooperative has realized greater efficiency in Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) through the deployment of Vyyo's licensed wireless broadband solution for critical infrastructure. In addition, he will show how the cooperative is able to generate new revenue by offering high-speed wireless voice and data services using the same infrastructure.
The Vyyo utility solution will be demonstrated at Booth #239 during the February 17-20 expo at the Rosen Centre Hotel and Conference Center. The Vyyo solution combines 700 MHz licensed spectrum with the company's V3000 Broadband Wireless Hub and compatible modems to provide greater efficiency by replacing legacy dial-up and point-to-point monitoring with cost-effective high-speed wireless data services.
"Rural utility coops in particular are recognizing the value of advanced wireless technologies," said Feisullin. "By increasing monitoring effectiveness of remote substations and generating facilities, enabling more efficient generation of power and allowing the creation of new broadband access streams, wireless solutions can help utilities reduce operational costs and increase revenue."
Vyyo's point to multipoint wireless, broadband solution is currently deployed by 40 independent telcos and utility companies. Additionally, the solution is being trialed by a large, Midwestern utility co-op for use in a multi-state, 50,000+ square mile wireless broadband network for managing and monitoring remote utility assets.
Vyyo's technology is designed to enable management of remote utility locations, including accurate, real-time assessment of consumption, the reduction of excess power generation and the reallocation of power generation. In addition, the Vyyo solution is designed to allow utility customers to generate additional revenues using the same technology by providing high-speed Internet services to rural commercial and residential subscribers.
About Vyyo Inc.
Vyyo provides cable and wireless broadband access solutions. Our products are designed for use by utilities, cable television and telecommunication operators, wireless internet service providers (ISPs) and enterprise. Our wireless broadband solutions enable utilities and other customers to operate private wireless networks for communications to their remote assets and customers. Typical applications include high-speed internet services, SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition), voice over internet protocol (VoIP) and telephony (T1/E1) all based on our modified Data Over Cable System Interface Specification (DOCSIS(R)) technology. Our Xtend Networks family of products include cable system spectrum overlay solutions designed to expand cable operators' typical HFC (hybrid-fiber coax) network capacity in the "last mile" by up to 2x in the downstream and up to 10x in the upstream, addressing bandwidth demand for T1 and other advanced services.
