Q Inc Announces Release of Quality of Experience Agent Software for BlackBerry Devices

Q Inc, an emerging leader in the network quality management industry, today announced that it has released a version of its agent and management quality of experience (QoE) software, Q-Agent(TM), for BlackBerry(TM) mobile devices.
BlackBerry devices have been raised to iconic status through their widespread adoption by both professionals and consumers. The BlackBerry is produced by Research in Motion (RIM), a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of wireless solutions for the worldwide mobile communications market. RIM estimates that they will have 5 million subscribers by February 2006 (Gartner). Approximately 150 carriers worldwide now offer BlackBerry devices and services.
When present on a BlackBerry, Q-Agent generates a Quality of Experience (QoE) index that quantifies key user performance parameters, providing carriers with deep insight into the BlackBerry user experience. Network management, marketing and customer service teams can use this QoE 'score' to improve a carrier's customer satisfaction, reduce support costs and streamline product implementation.
Carriers that equip BlackBerries with Q-Agent can resolve problems before they impact an end user's experience. The knowledge base and QoE index are accessed and configured through the Q-Manager console, or piped directly into the carrier's OSS. This allows carriers to set thresholds and gain a new level of control over service levels, providing a degree of service understanding that has been unobtainable using traditional network testing and monitoring solutions. This insight extends down to individual users and protocols.
RIM's use of Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME) allows for the first application of Q-Agent in this environment. Q-Agent is also currently available on BREW and other wireless data devices.
