Fujitsu Network Communications Inc., a leading supplier of IT and wireline/wireless networking solutions, announced today that they have joined the Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) Council (www.ftthcouncil.org), the leading industry association promoting the using of Passive Optical Networking (PON) for residential broadband networks.
The FTTH Council is a non-profit organization established in 2001 to educate the public on the opportunities and benefits of FTTH solutions. FTTH Council members represent all areas of broadband industries, including telecommunications, computing, networking, system integration, engineering and content-provider companies, as well as traditional telecommunications service providers, utilities and municipalities.
"Fujitsu is committed to industry standards, vendor interoperability, and participation in industry associations that benefit the entire telecommunications community," said Bill Erickson, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Fujitsu Network Communications. "We look forward to a close partnership with the FTTH Council to help them promote Gigabit Passive Optical Networking (GPON) networks to our customers and the telecommunications industry. As we begin deploying our GPON architectures, we want to ensure the entire industry is benefiting from the architecture and operational improvements offered by GPON."
