WBRZ offers a state first “News 2 Go”
WBRZ-TV, Channel 2 news is among a handful of TV news stations nationally that now offer video downloads of their stories onto an Apple video iPod.
To view News 2 Go clips, users can download a free version of Apples iTunes software, which they can use to search for WBRZ- produced video.
Users can also subscribe to the service, which automatically syncs the latest video from WBRZ onto iTunes software as they are updated, according to Web producer Brett Troxler.
The video files can either be viewed on a personal computer or by video iPod.
WBRZ, which is owned by the same family that publishes The Advocate, said it is the first Louisiana news station to offer the service and only one of a handful nationwide.
Troxler said the station decided to offer the service to reach younger viewers.
Were trying to appeal to a newer generation, he said.
