Deploys Interactive Online Catalog Using 3D PartStream.NET
Global linear motion system provider ROLLON Group is using SolidWorks(R) 3D CAD and COSMOS(R) design analysis software to become more successful by accelerating time to market and reducing errors for all new product development, SolidWorks announced today. The Italian company is also using the 3D PartStream.NET(R) service to create an interactive online catalog that manufacturing customers can use to configure and download custom parts into their product designs to ensure form and fit.
Since 1975, ROLLON has developed linear motion products used in machine design applications across a wide variety of industries around the world including plant assembly, packaging design, transportation manufacturing, and medical device development. Its systems carry products through automated packaging processes, open and close elevator doors, and raise and lower mechanical tables used in radiology. The company standardized on SolidWorks and COSMOSWorks(R) Designer to reduce product development time by 40 percent. SolidWorks' flexibility allows engineers to quickly adapt standard product families to custom specifications while COSMOSWorks Designer lets them test products' stress, tension, and motion thresholds to maintain durability.
"Time to market is absolutely critical to being competitive in this global market," said ROLLON Marketing Manager Marco Sacheli. "SolidWorks and COSMOS software give us the critical design and analysis on one platform so that we can speed customized products to customers. 3D PartStream.NET lets customers configure the exact parts for their designs in minutes rather than hours. That ensures they design ROLLON systems into their products."
ROLLON also chose 3D PartStream.NET because it allows customers to configure and download the parts they want in the format of their choice. This flexibility means customers don't have to worry about file translation issues and can download either 2D drawings or 3D models depending on their design needs.
"Designing better products faster is the cornerstone for staying competitive in this industry," said SolidWorks Regional Manager for South Europe Luca Rossettini. "ROLLON has become more competitive by using SolidWorks and COSMOSWorks Designer, and it has enhanced its marketing efforts with the 3D PartStream.NET service. Together, these products give ROLLON the tools to maintain its global market leadership."
ROLLON works with authorized SolidWorks reseller Exis for ongoing software training, implementation, and support.
