Actix Expands Its Lead in Automated Wireless Network Optimization and Establishes a Strong Presence in Germany With the Acquisition of Radioplan GmbH
Posted on: Wednesday, 22 February 2006, 12:00 CST
Actix, the global leader in wireless network performance engineering solutions, has acquired Radioplan GmbH, a Dresden based provider of automated network optimization software with customers in Europe, USA and Asia. The combined products and services of Radioplan and Actix will provide mobile operators and their network equipment vendors with a comprehensive solution for performance optimization that will enable significant cost reduction in the deployment and operation of today's 3G networks.
Commenting on the acquisition, Actix CEO Dave Wilkinson said: "Actix and Radioplan products are a natural fit; like us, Radioplan automates key wireless engineering processes to realize potentially huge reductions in the cost of engineering wireless networks. Radioplan's Dresden headquarters also gives Actix a new base in Continental Europe and a highly-skilled engineering team in the strategically important German market."
Johannes Huebner, CEO of Radioplan added: "The growing complexity of wireless technologies requires a great deal of know-how and technical resource. With a combined, 130-strong development team Actix and Radioplan can continue to create solutions that offer wireless operators very substantial business benefits in terms of operational efficiency, subscriber satisfaction and enhanced earnings potential. And with offices in the UK, Germany, Sweden, US, Hong Kong, India, China and Japan we are even better placed to provide our customers with the support that they have come to expect."
Actix is a privately held company backed by Summit Partners, a leading private equity firm. Radioplan is financed by private capital from its directors and founders and some public venture funding. The terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
