Hitachi Integrates AMI's Remote Management Card into Servers to Offer Customers Expanded Remote Hardware and Software Support

American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), a leading provider of storage and computing innovations worldwide, today announced its MegaRAC(TM) G2 remote server management card was chosen and customized by Hitachi for integration into its HA8000/20W server for remote software and hardware support.

"The HA8000/20W provides Hitachi's advanced, high-performing work group server HA8000 series with enhanced scalability," said Kouichi Nakai, department manager of the server development department within the server development operation of Hitachi, Ltd., Ubiquitous Platform Systems. "Hitachi recognizes the importance of remote management and has integrated the MegaRAC G2 remote management PCI card from AMI to provide its customers with a cost-effective management solution. Available as part of the solution is the Remote Service Server Model that allows administrators to effectively maintain the server in a remote location and provide a reduction in manpower-management when the business expands."

The MegaRAC G2 is a system independent, 100 percent out-of-band management solution for mission-critical servers. It enables network administrators to perform a power cycle of the server from a remote location. Administrators may be able to reduce problems before the server crashes, like data loss and potentially expensive repairs.

"The MegaRAC G2, which Hitachi modified for and integrated into its servers, will give its customers the value add of reducing server problems before the servers crash and preventing data loss and potentially expensive repairs," said S. Shankar, AMI's president.
