Dataram Releases Cost Effective Memory Upgrades for Sun Fire Servers With CoolThreads Technology
Posted on: Friday, 24 February 2006, 09:00 CST
Dataram Corporation (NASDAQ: DRAM), a leading provider of server and workstation memory, today announced the immediate availability of 1, 2, and 4GB memory upgrades for Sun Microsystems' Sun Fire T1000 and T2000 Servers with CoolThreads Technology.
Dataram's DRST2000 family of memory options for the T1000 and T2000 servers feature DDR2 ECC DIMMs with Chipkill(TM). Each DRST2000 contains a matched pair of 512MB, 1GB or 2GB modules.
The T1000 and T2000 systems are the first to feature Sun's new UltraSPARC "Niagara" T1 processor which has up to 8 cores - each having 4 threads - totaling 32 threads that work simultaneously so tasks are performed in parallel resulting in faster executions.
The Sun Fire T1000 supports up to 16GB of Dataram memory when all 8 DIMM slots are populated with 2GB modules. Memory can be added in groups of 4 or 8 DIMMS of the same capacity. The T2000 supports up to 32GB of Dataram memory when all 16 DIMM slots are populated with 2GB modules. Memory can be added in groups of 8 or 16 DIMMs of the same capacity.
Sun states the Niagara processor is more energy efficient than Intel's Xeon or IBM's POWER processors. Sun's "CoolThreads" technology is designed to save customers money on datacenter power, cooling and space costs. By selecting Dataram memory options costing up to 50% less than Sun's, customers will save even more.
