Battery Ventures today announced a $9.5M investment in A Place for Mom, the nation's largest Eldercare Referral Service. The company's service is free to consumers, and provides one-on-one, personalized consultation for families in search of eldercare options for loved ones. A Place for Mom has more than 11,000 long-term care communities and services participating in its referral network, including all of the top twenty largest assisted living companies in the US. The funding will help to expand their network of Family Advisors, currently a team of 140 professionals who consult with families to assist in selecting the most appropriate care options for their unique needs.
"Finding senior housing for a loved one can be very stressful and overwhelming. Our goal is to give families the confidence that they are making the best choice," said Pamala Temple, founder and CEO of A Place for Mom. "With so many eldercare options available, it would be impossible to find the right place simply in the yellow pages or from an Internet search. Our mission is to hold the family's hand throughout the process; share our extensive knowledge and experience, help determine what level of care they need, and then give them a list of resources specifically chosen for them."
Families may call A Place for Mom directly or visit the website, www.aplaceformom.com to find help in their search for eldercare. They are matched with a Family Advisor who tells them about options in their area, offers advice on services available and can even make appointments for site visits to communities.
"Eldercare is a very local market and the company's Family Advisors do an excellent job connecting families with the most suitable local options," said Neeraj Agrawal, partner at Battery Ventures. "A Place for Mom's team and value proposition are terrific, and I'm pleased to support them in this expansion phase. They have created a unique concept that uses the power of the web to provide information in a broad, efficient way nationwide, and have combined that with the very personalized attention that matters most to families."
