TAZZ Networks, Inc., the leading provider of policy control solutions that assure the quality of IP services, today announced that they have entered into a global OEM agreement with Cisco Systems for Next Generation IP Network Policy Control Solutions.
Under the terms of the agreement TAZZ will provide Cisco with a turnkey policy control solution to accelerate the introduction of quality assured applications for the next generation network. Cisco will market the TAZZ solution as the Cisco Broadband Policy Manager (BPM), with the initial market focus on the triple play (voice, video, and data) application requirements of telecom service providers. The long term focus of BPM is to help transition legacy networks to next generation architectures - 3GPP IMS and ETSI TISPAN - that accelerate the delivery of "business ready" IP applications. The solution is immediately available through the Cisco direct sales force.
"The proliferation of broadband services and applications requires sophisticated policy management and control," said Mark Bieberich, Director, Communications Network Infrastructure, Yankee Group. "Accordingly, we expect policy control solutions to become increasingly strategic to next-generation network planning during the next five years."
The TAZZ Policy Control System(TM) (PCS) is a critical component of IP next generation networks (NGNs) that enables service providers to unlock the potential of their access networks, unifying the service delivery process across the many mediums used by their customers. By providing an extensible and open solution that accelerates the transition to next-generation networks, TAZZ enables service providers to deliver IP services with assured resource availability and guaranteed quality of service.
"We are excited to be playing a key role in Cisco's execution of their IP next generation network vision," stated Andy May, president and CEO of TAZZ Networks. "As the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the world, Cisco recognizes that a policy-driven resource control layer is needed to effectively drive powerful triple-play features. With the Broadband Policy Manager, Cisco is able to empower their service provider customers to tap into the world of high-margin premium IP services that excite and attract both consumer and enterprise subscribers."
