Far West Cortez Road to Lose a Lane for Paving; Expect Delays

Feb. 27--MANATEE -- The westbound lane of Cortez Road, also known as SR 684, will be closed from the east end of Cortez Bridge to 119th Street West beginning Wednesday.
The work, paving operations overseen by the state Department of Transportation, will continue through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Crews will be directing traffic for both the eastbound and westbound lanes using a one-way flagging operation. In the affected area, Cortez Road is only a total of two lanes.
Motorists should expect delays.
Transportation officials, in a statement released this afternoon, encouraged motorists to "use caution and drive with care.
