Company Expands Its Portfolio for Land Mobile Customers with "Always On" High-Speed Wireless Packet Data Service Via Satellite
Dedicated Leased Line Service Affords Increased Security for Communications
Marlink today announced that it now offers a full range of Inmarsat services for customers requiring flexible and efficient land mobile communications over satellite.
Marlink's new Regional Broadband Global Area Network (Regional BGAN) offers reliable, 24-hour a day Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity at data speeds of up to 144kbps via a secure channel. The service is available in Europe, Asia, and northern and central Africa.
The service affords enterprise customers, governments, global and regional businesses, as well as educational facilities the ability to securely extend their corporate networks and access the Internet, via satellite, regardless of the local communications infrastructure.
Additionally, Marlink offers its Regional BGAN users' access to a dedicated leased line from Telenor Satellite Services. This exclusive communications feature affords Marlink customers access to a secure transmission path for their high-speed data communications.
Telenor's dedicated leased line provides full and Virtual Private Network (VPN) capabilities as new options to customers in need of secure, high-speed, rapid access to corporate networks. These options provide secure Internet connectivity for users of Regional BGAN service.
Another major benefit of Regional BGAN is its cost effectiveness. Connection to the Internet or a private network can be kept "always on" as customers pay only for the amount of data sent or received - making it an extremely valuable business tool. Regional BGAN offers the additional benefit of using notebook-sized, portable satellite IP modems. "As a full-service provider of remote maritime and land mobile communications, Marlink is continuing to bring to these markets innovative, reliable and cost-efficient satellite communications technologies, while providing customers complete end-to-end service," said Soren Einshoj, managing director of Marlink. "We are convinced that our new Regional BGAN service will bring data connectivity within easy reach of businesses, communities, and individuals, making IP-based remote communications routine to a wide selection of potential users."
Marlink also offers a complete portfolio of Inmarsat voice and data communications technologies for land mobile customers as well as Iridium handheld communications.
