ProfitLine Partners With EDI Telecommunications Billing Committee

Together with leading telecom carriers, ProfitLine will present key input for the definition of XML data transmission standards and assist the EDI Telecommunications Billing Committee (ETB) with issuing a wireless business model for EDI at the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) annual meeting March 20-24.

ATIS brings together the best minds in the telecom industry to develop and promote standardization of current and future telecom communications and related information technologies worldwide. As a long-time member of the ATIS, ProfitLine has worked closely with telecom giants such as Verizon, AT&T and BellSouth to develop standards for telecom data transmission. ProfitLine's direct work with telecom-centric XML data models over the past several years provides critical knowledge to be shared with the committee to be used as key input for developing XML data transmission standards.

In addition to contributing to the XML schema, ProfitLine has worked over the last two years with representatives from the major carriers to assist with the development of a wireless business model that will dictate standards for EDI billing for wireless services. "This business model will provide an overview of the telecommunications industry approach for wireless service billing. The goal of creating this business model is to provide the customers and providers with a sample bill and EDI mapping presentation that depicts how certain bill type charges are presented in EDI for wireless services," said Marvin Neal, ETB co-chair. ProfitLine's recommendations played a role in the final documents, which will be presented at the March meeting with the goal of helping to further best practices across all the carriers.
