Vitesse Showcases Technology Leadership at OFC/NFOEC 2006; Product Announcements, Technology Previews, Interoperability Demos and Expert Discussions Highlight Vitesse's Semiconductor IC Technology Leadership

Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ:VTSS), the worldwide leader in high-speed semiconductor integrated circuits for optical networking, marks its presence at the OFC/NFOEC 2006 conference in Anaheim with a focus on technology leadership.

"We have established Vitesse at the forefront for semiconductor ICs in the optical networking market by enabling our OEM customers to achieve their core business objectives and we're excited to showcase our latest technology advancements at OFC/NFOEC 2006," said Tony Conoscenti, Director of Marketing for the Network Products Division, Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation.

The company will unveil new products designed to bring cost-effective 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GigE) to legacy multimode fiber and showcase technology previews developed for Long Reach (LR) and Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) applications. Vitesse's new products and technology previews will be showcased in the Corporate Village, Hall B, rooms 1166 and 1067, March 7-9.

Vitesse will also participate with several partner companies to highlight breakthrough technology interoperability demonstrations.

-- Xponent will show a PX10 SFF transceiver reference design featuring Vitesse's VSC7965 Burst Mode Laser Driver with the XP3-0063, Xponent's Bidirectional Optical Sub-Assembly, to demonstrate high signal quality and more overall margin in link performance levels (Booth #3341).

-- Eblana Photonics will display the Vitesse PON PRO board integrated with its proprietary isolator free single mode laser diode, which is breaking price barriers in high volume Access and Enterprise applications. Eblana's laser notably uses only inexpensive integrated circuit processing techniques to achieve better than DFB functionality at lower price (Booth #1547).

Experts from Vitesse will also be participating in several industry discussions to illuminate ways technology can address key challenges, enable new applications, and propel innovation forward. Presentations include:

-- "Electronic Impairment Compensation," Tuesday, March 7, 2:45 p.m.

-- "Advances in PON Technology," Wednesday, March 8, 1:30 p.m.

-- "System Requirements and Optical Diagnostic Challenges of EPON Physical-Layer Chipset for Enabling Broadband Optical Ethernet Access Networks," Thursday, March 9, 12:30 p.m.
