WebSideStory Recognized As a Site Search Leader in Independent Research Report
Posted on: Tuesday, 7 March 2006, 09:01 CST
SAN DIEGO, March 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- WebSideStory, Inc. , a leading provider of on-demand digital marketing and customer analysis applications, has been cited as a market leader for enterprise site search by an independent research firm. In its recent review of five major site search vendors, Patricia Seybold Group, a leading analyst firm specializing in the customer experience, ranked WebSideStory as one of its top choices for best overall capabilities. No other vendor ranked higher than WebSideStory in the overall scoring and WebSideStory was the only company to receive number 1s -- the highest score available -- in two individual scoring categories. In the study, WebSideStory Search, the company's award-winning hosted site search solution, was recognized for its strong merchandiser support, advanced search types, deep web analytics integration and reporting, and massively scalable hosted infrastructure, which supported an estimated 105 million searches in December 2005. This hosted model, Patricia Seybold said, makes WebSideStory "the top choice for low cost of ownership and speed of deployment."
"Overall, WebSideStory Search imposes the least burden on IT of the five products we are comparing, and thus offers the most control to the business executive who owns e-commerce search and merchandising," Susan Aldrich, a senior vice president and senior consultant for the Patricia Seybold Group, wrote in her Feb. 16 report, "PSGroup Bull's Eye: Product Search Solutions, Which Providers Offer the Best Overall Capabilities." A copy of the report can be downloaded for free by visiting: http://www.psgroup.com/detail.aspx?ID=685.
WebSideStory Search is part of the WebSideStory Active Marketing Suite, the industry's first suite of integrated, on-demand digital marketing solutions, which includes web analytics, site search, web content management, call center analytics, messaging analytics and, later this year, keyword bid management.
Because WebSideStory is public and profitable, with the largest installed customer base of the five vendors in the survey, according to the study, WebSideStory also received the top score for product and company viability. Each product in the study was scored in five categories including retrieval and results management, merchandiser support, design and development, architecture and viability.
The ranking is the latest in a string of industry awards and recognition for WebSideStory's site search solution over the past year. Last summer, JupiterResearch, another leading analyst firm, gave WebSideStory a top ranking among nine vendors for its site and commerce search solution. In September, KMWorld magazine named WebSideStory Search one of its trend-setting products for 2005. In January of this year, WebSideStory was named a finalist for best enterprise search engine in the 2006 Codie Awards presented by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA).
"As a leading analyst firm with a customer-centric focus, Patricia Seybold Group understands the importance and unique advantages of the on-demand model," said Steve Kusmer, a senior vice president and general manager for WebSideStory's Search & Content Solutions Division. "We are extremely proud to receive this recognition, which shows that our hosted solutions best address the needs of customers and web site visitors."
In a study released earlier this year, WebSideStory found that site search converted visitors into buyers at nearly three times the rate of average site users. During the last three months of 2005, the conversion rate for visitors using the search box on a web site was 7.54 percent -- 2.7 times higher than the conversion rate for average site users (2.79 percent), according to the WebSideStory Index, a statistical barometer that features techno-graphic and e-commerce trends culled from the millions of users that visit web sites using the company's award-winning web analytics technology For more information about WebSideStory, please visit http://www.websidestory.com/.
