Driver Dies After Truck Hits Pole, Trees

Mar. 7--ROSEVILLE - A solo driver died early Monday after his pickup left the roadway on Baseline Road at Americana Drive and struck a utility pole, police said.
The man's identity was withheld pending notification of family.
Sgt. Michael Doane said the accident occurred at 12:48 a.m.
The westbound 1998 Ford Ranger hit the pole, disrupting power to several homes, and also struck two trees before coming to rest on its side, Doane said. The driver was declared dead at the scene, he said.
Baseline Road was closed at Americana Drive for five hours for cleanup and investigation, Doane said.
Police asked for anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them at (916) 774-5043.
