San Diego Regional Energy Office Launches New Website

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The San Diego Regional Energy Office (SDREO), a leading energy information resource and public benefit organization, today announced the launch of its new corporate website at http://www.sdenergy.org/ . The site has been completely redesigned and upgraded to provide easier access to a broad spectrum of information, including rebates, programs, technologies and SDREO services, along with new services and tools for energy consumers.

New features include:

* Easier navigation and usability. A new user interface offers dynamic

menus, "bread crumb" navigation tracking, full cross-site searching

and a complete site map. The site has been reorganized by programs,

technologies, customer types and importance and now offers one-click

access to news, events and several online tools.

* Vendor database. Allows site visitors to find local providers of

energy-related products and services quickly and easily. Users can

search by product/service category, company name or market segment.

(Vendors wishing to be included in the database are encouraged to

signup online.)

* Online event registration and calendar. Users can lookup regional

energy seminars, workshops, trade shows, meetings and other events

plus signup online for SDREO-hosted events.

* E-mail newsletter subscription service. Visitors can subscribe

(opt-in and -out) to SDREO's monthly "Energy Connection" and other

topical newsletters and updates.

* E-learning courses and technology databases. The site offers free,

interactive educational courses on a wide variety of general and

technical energy topics. Online residential and non-residential

technology "encyclopedias" make http://www.sdenergy.org/ a one-stop center for

energy knowledge.

According to SDREO Marketing Manager, Tom Geldner, "SDREO's website has long been a key resource for energy information but the sheer volume of content has been a little tough for users to access and for our staff in maintaining it. We have literally reorganized everything from top-to-bottom, made the user interface much more effective and installed a content management system to make the site easier to maintain. We think visitors will be very impressed by what they see."

Geldner continued, "We have also integrated some web services, formally provided by third parties, into the site itself. This not only reduces costs, it makes accessing these features easier for the visitor. This has been an intense, 6-month effort by all involved and we think the results speak for themselves."

Technical work on the new site was done by Designed Internet Services (DIS) of Chula Vista and that company also serves as the website's host. "We're pleased SDREO selected DIS to handle site development in the first place. This has been a challenging project requiring a lot of custom programming and database work," said Dan Biggs, President of DIS. "http://www.sdenergy.org/ is now a showcase on how to make dense content relatively easy to access."
