Minicom Showcases Centralised KVM/IP Management Solution for the Enterprise at CeBit 2006

Posted on: Wednesday, 8 March 2006, 09:00 CST

JERUSALEM, March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Minicom, a leading provider of out-of-band (OOB) KVM, Serial, and remote access server management solutions, is showcasing new products for the server management market at the CeBit 2006 trade show and exhibition, which opens tomorrow.

The main attraction is KVM.net, a system for complete out-of-band-KVM management over IP. KVM.net addresses the need for managed access in high density enterprise environments such as data centres, businesses with branch offices, testing labs, and "lights-out" facilities. It unifies administration, monitoring, and control of all servers and users in the organisation, across geographic locations. The highly available, highly secure system is designed to leverage existing installations and legacy systems with smarter management of different server/data centre configurations, preserving your KVM investment.

The complete KVM.net system can manage any number of Minicom's Smart IP Access or PX devices. Smart IP Access is a high performance IP device for remote KVM access to servers and analogue KVM switches, including 3rd party switches. The PX is a high performance, single server IP device for non-blocking access to servers.

Other new products include the IP Control, a high performance IP device for remote access to servers and legacy switches outside the KVM.net managed environment, and the KVMS Extender, a combined KVM and Serial extender with a new SKU compression algorithm for superior video over long distances.
