NEC Unified Solutions Reports Growth in 2005 Enterprise Telephony Equipment Market, According to Leading Analyst Firm

Posted on: Wednesday, 8 March 2006, 09:00 CST

IRVING, Texas, March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- NEC Unified Solutions, Inc. (NEC), a leader in converged voice and data communications for the enterprise, today announced that a recent Gartner report titled, "Preliminary Market Analysis of Enterprise Telephony Equipment, North America, 2005(1)," indicated NEC is on track to experience a seven-percent increase in extension line shipments in 2005. According to NEC, this represents an important gain in market share amid a fairly flat enterprise telephony market.

Published in the Enterprise Networking and Communications data cluster, this report provides an early estimate of the North American 2005 enterprise telephony equipment market.

NEC sees its performance as impressive because this report showed a moderate one-percent growth over 2004 extension line shipments for the overall market. NEC attributes its success to unique product applications targeting key vertical industries, including healthcare and higher education, as well as an increased presence in the small-to-medium business market.

"2005 was a very successful year for NEC. Our strong sales and market growth were driven by the introduction of our industry-specific solutions, the flexible IP migration path we offer our customers and the launch of our NEC Secure Remote Management and Threat Management Services," said Charles Langdon, president, NEC Unified Solutions. "These offerings, coupled with our core strength in bringing customer-chosen solutions that deliver on promised TCO and ROI, accelerate NEC's position as the market's leading total solutions provider. I couldn't be more proud of the NEC team."

NEC offers a broad range of enterprise telephony equipment -- from small to very large systems -- to effectively support enterprise and SMB customers whose requirements span from traditional TDM support to a full, 100% server-based IP deployment. NEC's UNIVERGE(R) architecture reinforces NEC's reputation for delivering high quality solutions focused on technology, customer choice and investment protection, and lays the groundwork for the evolution from traditional telephony to integrated voice and data networking solutions.
