Rock 105 Names New Show

Mar. 9–Cox Radio Inc. said Tuesday it has signed a new morning show team for its classic rock station, WFYV (104.5 FM), replacing the top- rated Lex & Terry team that left Rock 105 last October.
The new team consists of Mark Summers, Genny Lane and “Dahmer.” They’ve been together for four years, first at WPBZ-FM in West Palm Beach and then at KCFX-FM in Kansas City, Mo. They were a popular team in West Palm Beach but Infinity Broadcasting, which owned the station, took them off the air in July 2004 so that it could broadcast the syndicated Howard Stern show.
The three took their show to Kansas City but were replaced there earlier this year by the syndicated Bob and Tom show.
The Lex & Terry show originated at Rock 105 but was syndicated to other stations around the country. Gary Spurgeon, vice president and market manager for Cox’s five Jacksonville radio stations, said the Mark, Genny and Dahmer show will not be syndicated.
“This is going to be a local show for Jacksonville,” he said. Spurgeon said the trio will begin their show in the next few weeks, but there is no firm start date.
While many morning teams are all talk, Spurgeon said the new morning show will include “a splash of music” along with entertainment and interviews.
WFYV has been looking for a new morning team since Lex Staley and Terry Jaymes took their syndicated program from Cox to Clear Channel Communications last fall. They now are heard in Jacksonville on Clear Channel’s alternative rock station, WPLA (107.3 FM).
