Cymphonix today announced it has received an investment from Intel Capital as part of the company's $5.4 million Series A funding round. Intel joins vSpring Capital of Salt Lake City and Prospector Equity Capital of Park City, Utah as investors. This investment will be used to expand the company's solutions and the marketing reach of its products.
"Organizations face increasing conflicts between security and user requirements as network traffic grows," said Kirt Bailey, investment manager for Mobile and Communications Sectors at Intel Capital. "Cymphonix's XLi technology makes it easier for administrators to identify and stop threats, abuses and non-critical traffic."
Cymphonix Cross-Layer Intelligence(TM) (XLi) technology will also be included in Intel's Converged Application Platform (CAP) reference design, which allows enterprises to integrate and deliver voice, data, and video over a single IP network. More information is available at http://www.cymphonix.com/intelplatform and http://www.intel.com/netcomms/technologies/voice/cap.htm.
Greg Warnock, partner at vSpring Capital, said, "There is growing demand for smarter, next-generation network management solutions. Intel's investment in Cymphonix helps meet that demand, and Cymphonix's participation in CAP will bring the value of XLi Technology to Intel customers."
Cymphonix delivers smart gateway appliances that give organizations control over users, applications and threats by correlating isolated events to optimize network usage, security and performance. Patent-pending Cross-Layer Intelligence Technology scans, identifies and controls network traffic, allowing administrators to see and control the applications and users that tax network resources and to stop threats before they enter the network.
