Mar. 12--Wine-making club to hold second meeting Saturday The first meeting of the Amateur Wine Makers Club was held at Forks of Cheat Winery on Feb. 18. Membership is still open. The next meeting will be from 4-5 p.m. Saturday at Forks of Cheat Winery. Questions or suggestions for topics of discussion are welcome. Plum Run 4-H Club hosts craft show April 1 The Plum Run 4-H Club will be hosting a "Spring Fling" Craft Show from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 1 at the Mannington Church of the Nazarene, approximately 1/2 mile past North Marion High School. Admission is free and table spaces are available for $15. Info, or for registration forms: 592-3009. Historical Society to meet, eat Friday The Monongalia Historical Society will meet Friday at Drummond Chapel United Methodist Church. Dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m. Cost is $8.50, with a choice of fish or chicken. The program will feature Dr. Kenneth L. Carvell speaking on "The History of the Cheat Area." All are invited to attend and learn how the past influences the present and helps build for the future. Make reservations to Mary Jane Hamilton, 599-4393, by Monday. Celebrate quilting at mall Celebrate National Quilting Day with the Country Roads Quilt Guild from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Mountaineer Mall's Community Room. Quilters will be working on various projects and holding a few demonstrations. All quilters are welcome to visit and encouraged to bring quilting projects and show and tell. Bring a lunch and stay all day. In 1989 the Kentucky Heritage Quilters organized a Quilters Day Out on the third Saturday in March. In 1991 the National Quilting Association officers voted to make it a day of national observance. Contest seeks photos The West Virginia Strawberry Festival and the Stonewall Jackson Photo Club will hold a photography exhibit and contest May 17-20 at Bill Kelley Chevrolet in Buckhannon. Entry deadline is May 5 and entry forms may be obtained by mailing a self-addressed envelope to Anthony Winston, 344 Jackson Ave., Morgantown, WV 26501-6614.
