Volex Improves Collaboration With AT&T Networking Services
Posted on: Monday, 13 March 2006, 09:00 CST
AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced that it has won a three-year networking services contract from the Volex Group plc, a leading producer of electrical and electronic-cabling assemblies. Contract terms were not disclosed.
AT&T will deploy an Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) integrating 21 corporate locations in the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. The VPN provides secure high-speed data, voice and Internet access services.
"Previously, we linked our operational, manufacturing and sales locations through a number of different solutions from disparate providers, which made collaboration among different offices difficult," said Michael Tonino, global vice president of Information Technology for Volex. "With AT&T's VPN, we have an integrated common network to improve productivity and enhance teamwork among our employees, which in turn, improves service to our customers."
Through the secure AT&T BusinessDirect portal, Volex gains around-the-clock online access to real-time reports on network performance and direct connection to electronic billing and trouble management systems.
