Analysys International Says China Software Market Sales Reached RMB 32.4 Billion in 2005

BEIJING, March 13 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Analysys International, a leading Internet based provider of business information about technology, media and telecom (TMT) industries in China, says software sales in China reached RMB 32.4 billion in 2005, increasing 22.2% year-over-year, in its recently released report China Software Market 2005-2006.
According to the report, application software occupied the largest market share 57.7%, followed by system software 32% and supporting software 10.3%. System software market maintained stable growth in 2005, with market size reaching RMB 10.4 billion; the supporting software market was accelerating, increasing 25.2% year-over-year; application software market reached RMB 18.7 billion, increasing 23.9% from RMB 15.1 billion in 2004. Concerning industrial distribution of China's software market, the manufacturing industry occupied the top position, accounting for 16.4% of the total market, followed by the financial industry 15.6%, the telecom industry 14.1%, government 12.2%, scientific research and education 8.5%. Energy, transportation, logistics, medicine and health industries occupied a total of 21.2% of the market.
Li Meihong, an analyst from Analysys International said, ''Overseas software vendors such as Microsoft and IBM have increased investment in the market and carried out deep cooperation with Chinese domestic vendors.'' ''Overseas vendors should speed up their localization progress in China and further their understanding of Chinese users.''
Analysys International suggests software vendors improve action speed in the enterprise market so as not to lose orders from small and midsize businesses. In addition, Analysys International says service quality is also becoming very important in software products.
