Personeta Joins Sun's Open Service Delivery Platform Initiative

NAPERVILLE, Ill. and HOD HASHARON, Israel, March 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Personeta, a leading provider of next generation network service platforms and IMS application servers, announced today that it has joined Sun Microsystems' Open Service Delivery Platform (OSDP) Initiative. The joint initiative strengthens the relationship between Sun and Personeta to help telecommunication service providers rapidly and cost-effectively deliver new, differentiated revenue-generating consumer and enterprise services -- while evolving the necessary infrastructure to support them.
Inaugurated in June 2005, Sun launched the OSDP initiative to give service providers the flexibility to introduce new, converged services by selecting components from a broad range of technologies and services based on Sun and participants' platforms and products. Personeta augments the initiative's offerings with the inclusion of its carrier-grade SIP application server, TappS NSC, and applications for all carrier types running on any network. With TappS NSC, service providers can implement services within a variety of domains, including Mobile-PBX Integration, Mobile Office, Video Telephony, Converged Desktop, Automated Attendant and Network IVR.
"In today's increasingly competitive market, service providers seek new ways to differentiate themselves to increase their average revenue per user through new service offerings," said Darrell Jordan-Smith, vice president, Global Telecommunications at Sun Microsystems. "Personeta is an important addition to our OSDP initiative. Personeta complements Sun's platforms with a unique value proposition that meets a wide range of customer needs. Personeta's technology supports a service provider's strategy for an incremental migration to a converged network. Our customers will now have the choice of how and when they implement their converged network offerings."
Personeta's TappS NSC gives service providers virtually unparalleled implementation flexibility. This includes the ability to operate in emerging next-generation network (NGN) and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architectures while fully interoperating with legacy equipment and ultimately preserving existing investments. For example, operators can use TappS NSC to implement multiple functions within the IMS reference architecture including: SIP Application Server, SCIM (Service Capability Interaction Manager), IM-SSF (IP Multimedia Service Switching Function) and MRF (Media Resource Function). TappS NSC's open service creation also provides service providers the means to mix and match applications to design new converged services.
"We are very pleased to broaden our relationship with Sun by having been selected for the Open Service Delivery Platform Initiative," said Mark McIlvane, chief executive officer of Personeta. "Because of its leadership in the telecommunications market, we have run our products on Sun platforms since inception and have achieved significant benefits from deploying Sun Microsystems' Solaris(TM) Operating System and NEBS-compliant platforms. As a participant in the OSDP initiative, we look forward to extending our partnership to reap additional benefits from Sun's extensive channels in the market."
Personeta's TappS NSC and applications are currently installed worldwide in commercial deployments with leading fixed and mobile network operators and service providers. The open service creation and delivery platform enables rapid Java(TM) technology based service customization, while providing customer self-provisioning for all services to help service providers maintain their operating margins and profitability.
