Global IP Sound (GIPS), the leading provider of embedded voice-processing solutions for the Voice over IP (VoIP) market, today announced that it has launched the GIPS Developer Community, an online forum where developers can access GIPS innovative and market-leading voice processing technology. The company will be premiering the website at the VON Spring 2006 Conference and Expo at the San Jose Convention Center from March 14 to 17.

"Collaboration and education are key components to success in the increasingly competitive VoIP applications market," said Gary P. Hermansen, President and CEO of GIPS. "We created the Developer Community to facilitate this spirit of innovation and creativity through the use of GIPS technology. We hope to ultimately see people utilize the site to develop ways of communicating that we cannot even imagine today."

The GIPS Developer Community, which can be accessed at http://developer.globalipsound.com, provides the building blocks to easily develop innovative VoIP applications. Developers, whether students, hobbyists or employees of start-up companies, now have access to some of the most cutting edge voice-processing technology available today.

Members of the online community can download GIPS VoiceEngine Lite, which is based on GIPS ubiquitous and market-leading VoiceEngine family of products. The easy-to-use, flexible API allows developers to explore the capabilities of GIPS VoiceEngine voice processing technology and to create new and exciting VoIP applications for non-commercial use. GIPS VoiceEngine Lite includes some of the core GIPS technology utilized by many leading VoIP solutions providers including Nortel, Skype, WebEx and AOL.

The GIPS VoiceEngine Lite contains GIPS patented NetEQ jitter buffer and error concealment module, GIPS codecs and a variety of hooks that will allow developers to create almost any type of VoIP application. The API supports Windows 98, 2000, NT, ME, and XP. Once a member has developed a product that is ready for commercial deployment, they may contact GIPS for licensing information.

Developer Community members are also provided with the unique support of the site's Developer Forum. This online bulletin board offers a forum for members to provide each other with development support, discuss ideas for products, or simply chat about VoIP and related technologies.

GIPS is partnering with a number of companies to provide additional VoIP development tools on the Forum. Google, for example, is making its Libjingle solution available to members of the GIPS Developer Community. This set of C++ components interoperates with Google Talk's peer-to-peer and voice calling capabilities. In addition, members can access components a combined GIPS VoiceEngine Lite and Libjingle module that supports integration between the two products.

GIPS will also provide a demo and example code to allow developers to seamlessly link VoiceEngine Lite and a SIP stack from reSIProcate. The demo version will include example code of a simple GUI that will further support users to quickly create VoIP applications. In addition, developers can quickly access the developer sections of partner sites through quick links from the GIPS Developers Forum.

To register as a member, users need only to access the Developer Community web site from the Global IP Sound corporate Web site and submit registration information. Potential members will then be contacted by a Developer Community administrator with additional details.
