Mar. 16--Cumru Township police said Wednesday that they have cited a tractor-trailer driver for failing to stop at a railroad crossing, causing a crash with a Norfolk Southern train.
Marc Dragan, 48, Loves Park, Ill., failed to notice soon enough that the warning signal lights were flashing as his rig approached the crossing on Route 724 just east of Interstate 176, Sgt. Nicholas L. Bolognese said.
Dragan also was cited with careless driving.
"We don't know if he didn't see it (the signal) or didn't react to it, but he just went through it," Bolognese said. "And when he realized where he was at, that's when he stopped on the tracks."
The train hit the rig Friday about 10:15 a.m. after the rig came to a stop on the tracks.
Dragan, an employee of Emma Express, Rockford, Ill., suffered a head injury and was released from Reading Hospital during the weekend.
