Mar. 18--Three Placer County residential gardens will be open to the public on March 31 as part of the Garden Conservancy's "open days" program. This is first time the New York-based organization has included the Sacramento-area in its program that allows exceptional private gardens to be visited by the public.
Tourgoers can start at either Maple Rock Gardens, 100 Clark-Tunnel Road, Newcastle, or Gardens of Springhill, 4141 Wilson Town Road, Lincoln. Once there, the address of the third garden will be made available.
Fees for visiting each garden will be $5. Reservations are not required. Gardens will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Gardens of Springhill sprawl over 50 acres of wetlands, ponds, rolling hills and lakes. Numerous gardens have been created throughout the property.
Maple Rock Gardens was named for the many Japanese maples and boulders on the spectacular 3-acre garden.
