Frontier Deploys Actelis Networks' Carrier Ethernet Over Copper Platforms to Expand Its Metro Ethernet Services Over Multiple Community Networks

Far reaching communities are joined together for information, entertainment, and medical services with high-speed connectivity from Frontier. Frontier has chosen Actelis Networks' Carrier Ethernet over Copper(TM) access platforms to deliver high-quality, high-bandwidth Ethernet services over its existing copper and fiber network in recent deployments in Arizona. Actelis is the world-leader in delivering Ethernet access platforms for real world networking solutions.
Frontier has selected the Actelis platforms to provide connections between the central office in Show Low, AZ, to four other outlying central offices over a fiber network. Using Actelis Ethernet over Copper solutions, these offices can offer broadband access to communities spread over distances of 60 miles by extending Metro Ethernet services to their customers who are only served by copper. High-speed Internet is not the only service Frontier provides to its customers. Theaters located in these communities are linked together over copper pairs providing 10Mbps of service to broadcast real time television programs, and movie trailers directly into the theater for enhanced pre-show entertainment.
With the Actelis platforms' ability to directly connect fiber to copper, Frontier is also able to provide medical facilities that are 50 miles apart with a service of 10Mbps to accomplish real time consulting and instant transmission of high-resolution medical images such as x-rays, CT scans, and MRIs.
"Actelis platforms are an ideal solution for us," said Lorraine Leeming, vice president of regional sales at Frontier. "They provide fiber-quality, high-speed Ethernet over our existing copper and fiber infrastructure. We have tested several solutions and Actelis has outperformed them all, delivering the best performance and reliability over the copper infrastructure. The Actelis platforms allow us to cost-effectively utilize both our existing copper and fiber infrastructure and to increase our service offerings with optical confidence."
"Actelis is excited about our association with Frontier, which will enable them to deliver sophisticated network services to businesses in the most cost-effective manner," said Bruce Hammergren, vice president of Americas sales, Actelis Networks. "Our platforms allow Frontier and other service providers to use the existing copper and fiber infrastructure to provide premium long-reach voice, video and data services quickly, universally, and profitably. Actelis' solutions optical networking capabilities saved Frontier the need to upgrade existing equipment or trenching for new fiber -- a significant cost savings to Frontier."
Actelis' award-winning product portfolio enables system integrators, service providers, and private network operators to use the existing copper and fiber infrastructure to provide real world total networking solutions. Available in point-to-point or point-to-multipoint configurations, Actelis' platforms are standards-based, Ethernet over Copper platforms that deliver up to 70 Mbps of high-quality Ethernet services to customers or locations over the existing copper plant. Powered by Actelis' superior technology, Actelis platforms provide high-quality bandwidth to distances beyond 18,000 feet/5.5km. Actelis' platforms are ideal to support a wide range of broadband applications including transparent LAN services, LAN interconnection, and voice and video over IP. They are also well suited to backhaul bandwidth to DSLAMs/NGDLCs, WiFi and cellular base stations.
