FAIRFAX, Calif., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Information on all Informal Complaints filed with the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) Telecommunications Division is now available to the public for the first time. It's located on the Web at http://www.billcorrectors.com/ in a section called Complaints Count!
Provided as a public service by Bill Correctors, Inc. (BCI), the information is the culmination of a 15-year effort. "Initially, this data was kept secret by the PUC," explains Bob Schwartz, VP of BCI. "Then it was available for the press only. Now, fifteen years after our first request, we've pierced the veil of secrecy and made it available for everyone to see."
Specifically, the web site lists telecommunications companies alphabetically with the number of complaints filed against them as well as a listing of complaint types, e.g., "Disputed Bill, Slamming, and Company Practice" (which are currently the top three causes for complaints). ("Local Portability Network and Quality of Service" fare 4th and 5th trailing by a wide margin.)
BCI has secured complaints data for the past five years and plans to post current data on a monthly basis. The company is offering free access to the data, as well as the opportunity to purchase more detailed special reports -- "Industry Report Cards" on all telecommunications complaints filed in California.
The information is especially useful for businesses and individuals that want to evaluate telecommunications vendors. It will also prove valuable to companies in the telecom industry. "We believe that many telecommunications and cellular service providers will want prospective customers to know how their statistics rank next to their competitors, or compared with the general industry trends," notes Schwartz.
About BCI:
Begun in 1983 to audit long distance telephone bills, BCI now manages enterprise-wide invoices from all IT/Telecommunications voice, data, and cellular providers in order to cut telecom confusion and cost for its clients. Based in Fairfax, California, the company consolidates telecom billings, negotiates rates, and issues detailed weekly expense reports, as well as monthly management reports. It also provides cost saving recommendations, invoice reviews, policy and procedure assistance and coordinated order desk services.
