Vitesse Semiconductor Appoints New CTO and Vice President of Engineering to Ethernet Products Division

Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq:VTSS), the market leader in Ethernet ICs, today announced the appointment of Dr. Chi Fai Ho to CTO and Paul Browne to vice president of engineering for Vitesse's Ethernet Products Division. Dr. Ho and Paul Browne will report directly to Martyn Humphries, vice president and general manager of the Ethernet Products Division at Vitesse.

As Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Chi Fai Ho will be responsible for direction of all advanced technology, product direction and delivery of complete customer solutions for Vitesse's Ethernet Products Division. As vice president of engineering, Paul Browne will be responsible for all design engineering, architecture and product development for the Division.

Most recently, Dr. Ho was vice president of engineering for Tidal Networks. Prior to that, he was senior director for Nokia Corporation, heading a business program and system technology group on 3G & GPRS gateway platforms. Before joining Nokia, he was vice president of engineering for Amber Networks, which was acquired by Nokia. Prior to Amber Networks, Dr. Ho held various engineering and management positions with Network Equipment Technology, Cisco and Unisys. Additionally, Dr. Ho has over 35 U.S. patents granted in the area of telecommunication, networking, Internet search and e-learning. Dr. Ho received his B.S. degree from California State University Hayward, and his Ph.D. degree from the California Institute of Technology.

Paul Browne brings over 20 years of experience in advanced technology product development. Paul joined Vitesse from 3Com where he held various management positions during his 6 years with the company. He was most recently senior director of engineering at 3Com, where he was responsible for all engineering-based activities related to switching, routing and wireless products at both system and ASIC level. At 3Com, Paul's team was responsible for the refresh of 3Com's mid-tier and high-end modular and stackable products including the launch of a new high bandwidth chassis and high-density line cards. He also achieved ongoing quarter on quarter cost reductions and upgrade of 3Com's small business product line. Prior to 3Com, Paul held various engineering and management positions at Audio Processing Technology Ltd., Tritel Telecommunications Ltd., CSD Hathaway Ltd. and Wolfson Electronics. Paul Browne received his B.Eng. (Hon.s) Degree of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Queen's University of Belfast in the United Kingdom.
