Optimum Lightpath Wins Eighth Consecutive New York State Public Service Commission Commendation for Excellent Customer Service

Posted on: Wednesday, 22 March 2006, 09:00 CST

For the eighth consecutive year, Optimum Lightpath, the business telecommunications services division of Cablevision Systems Corporation (NYSE:CVC), has won the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) Commendation for Excellent Customer Service. Presented annually, the award recognizes telephone companies that consistently provide the highest levels of service and responsiveness to New York telecommunications customers.

"2005 was a tremendous year for Optimum Lightpath," said Dave Pistacchio, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Optimum Lightpath. "We strategically shifted our focus to deliver superior, cutting-edge Metro Ethernet services that go far beyond traditional telephony-based offerings, re-branded our organization to reflect the momentum of the Optimum brand across the New York metropolitan area, and continued to grow revenues and add new customers. To add an eighth consecutive commendation from the New York State Public Service Commission in a transition year is a real credit to our people and further underscores Optimum Lightpath's success in delivering superior levels of customer service and technologically advanced communications services in the markets we serve."

"Focusing on the unique needs of the New York business community allows Optimum Lightpath to provide a level of customer support and individualized service unmatched by our competitors," said Kevin Curran, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Optimum Lightpath. "To consistently meet and exceed the high standards for customer service set by the New York State Public Service Commission even during this time of enormous growth and strategic refocusing speaks volumes about the reliability of our network and the 'Customer First' culture created by our employees."

Optimum Lightpath currently provides business communication solutions to commercial customers in Long Island, Westchester County, New York City, southern Connecticut and northern New Jersey representing industries that span technology, health care, education, government, financial services, insurance and law. Optimum Lightpath provides an extensive portfolio of metro Ethernet services designed to meet diverse business needs for voice, data, and Internet services. Since Optimum Lightpath owns and maintains its own state-of-the-art fiber network, it can deliver reliability and superior, award-winning quality of service.

The New York State PSC's annual Commendations for Excellent Service are based on telephone companies' performance in relation to service quality standards established by the Commission. The criterion to measure the condition of each company's infrastructure includes an evaluation of "customer trouble report rates" (CTRR) and the number of consumer complaints received by the Commission. Monthly measurements for each of 912 central office switches in the state are supplemented by staff interventions to achieve compliance with Commission standards.
